Pricing

Offhand, operated by Keberds · Last updated 28 September 2026

Offhand sells usage at cost. Every figure below comes from the same table the server uses to charge you.

Free

30 minutes of recording a month, plus a few questions about it. It resets on the first of each month.

Subscription: $14.99 a month on the web

What reaches us of the price becomes your monthly allowance. Recording, answers and spoken replies are charged against it at exactly what they cost us, and so is an estimated $0.30 a month for hosting and storage. In the App Store and Google Play it costs more, by about what those stores keep, and buys the same allowance: where you buy never gets you more usage, or less.

Bought onPriceFeesYour allowanceRecording
Web $14.99$0.74$14.25 about 41 hours
iPhone (App Store) $16.99$2.74$14.25 about 41 hours
Android (Google Play) $16.99$2.74$14.25 about 41 hours

Recording hours are approximate: an hour costs us about $0.34 to transcribe and summarise, and the hours shown are after the hosting share. Questions and spoken replies come out of the same allowance.

Top-ups, after the allowance

For subscribers who use their month's allowance. Once you reach it, all of your usage is charged at exactly what it costs us to run Offhand, with no markup, from a top-up balance credited at what reaches us after fees:

Bought onPriceFeesAdded to balanceRecording
Web $5.99$0.48$5.51 about 16 hours
iPhone (App Store) $6.49$0.98$5.51 about 16 hours
Android (Google Play) $6.49$0.98$5.51 about 16 hours

Outside the US

The stores set a local price in each country, and it usually includes sales tax or VAT. Your allowance is worked out from what your purchase actually paid us after that tax and the store's fee, so it can differ from the figures above. Fees here include the store's cut and the few cents left over when a store price rounds above the web's allowance. The app shows yours before you buy.
