Terms of Service

Offhand, operated by Keberds · Last updated 28 September 2026

These terms govern your use of Offhand. By using the app you accept them.

Your account

You need an account, you must be at least 13, and you are responsible for what happens under it. One account is for one person.

Text messages

Offhand texts the phone number you sign in with: a one-time code whenever you ask to sign in, and, only if you switch it on, a note when you reach a month's usage limit (at most once per billing period). Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, or HELP for help. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. See the privacy policy for how your number is handled.

Subscriptions and billing

Recording, and the law

This is the most important clause in this document.

Recording a conversation without the consent of the people in it is illegal in many places, and the rules differ between countries and between US states — some require only your consent, others require everyone's. You are solely responsible for obtaining whatever consent is required where you are, and for telling the other people present that you are recording.

This applies with particular force to the Android call recording feature, which is off by default. Turning it on is your decision and your legal responsibility.

What you may not do

Your content

Your recordings, transcripts and notes are yours. You grant Keberds only the licence needed to run the service for you: to store your content, process it to produce summaries and answers, and transmit it to the providers named in the Privacy Policy. We claim no ownership and will not use your content to train models.

What Offhand does not promise

Transcription and summarization are imperfect. Speech is misheard, summaries omit things, and answers can be wrong. Do not rely on Offhand as the only record of anything that matters — legal, medical, financial or contractual. The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, and we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Keberds is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for lost recordings, lost profits or lost data. Our total liability for any claim is limited to what you paid in the twelve months before it arose. Some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, in which case they apply only as far as permitted.

Ending it

You can delete your account at any time in Settings, which erases your data permanently. We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, and will explain why unless the law prevents us. Deleting your account cancels a web subscription; a store subscription has to be cancelled in the store.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada, without regard to conflict of law rules.

Changes

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in the app before taking effect, and continuing to use Offhand after that means you accept them.
